We are hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to become the first full-time technical team member in our growing software company.
The main focus of the role is backend development, maintenance, production support, APIs, database work, and deployment awareness. Our current systems include Laravel/PHP, Python-based ERP/backend systems, React, integrations, and legacy projects.
We are looking for a backend developer who is not limited to one framework. Laravel/PHP is the main required stack, while Python, React, DevOps, ERP systems, and AI tools are strong pluses.
Responsibilities:
- Build, maintain, and improve backend services and APIs, mainly in Laravel/PHP.
- Support and improve existing production systems and legacy codebases.
- Work with databases, migrations, queries, and integrations.
- Debug production issues and help with safe releases/deployments.
- Collaborate with the founder to clarify requirements and split work into clear tasks.
- Write technical documentation, setup notes, and deployment notes.
- Support frontend/React tasks when needed.
- Use AI tools responsibly to improve productivity, documentation, and debugging.
Required skills:
- 5+ years of backend development experience.
- Strong Laravel/PHP experience in production systems.
- Good SQL/database design and query debugging.
- Strong API design and integration experience.
- Good Git workflow and code review habits.
- Ability to maintain and improve legacy systems.
- Clear communication and strong ownership mindset.
- Linux, Docker, CI/CD, VPS/cloud, deployment, and monitoring experience.
Nice to have:
- Python backend or ERP system experience.
- React/frontend experience.
- Experience using AI coding tools with proper verification.
Work model:
- First 3 months: full-time remote probation/evaluation period.
- After successful probation: full-time onsite from the office with a formal employment contract.
